Our name comes from the pulp fiction novels of John D. MacDonald, written in the 1970s. The protagonist, Travis McGee, lives aboard a houseboat moored at Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale. He's a private investigator of a particular kind — he recovers things of value that have been lost or stolen. And he never charges a dime upfront. Instead, he works on contingency, taking a percentage of whatever he recovers.
